In-Depth Copy Editing
My copy editing services are designed to meet the unique needs of your project, with all corrections and queries done using Track Changes in Microsoft Word.
I offer three levels of service:
- Light Copy Editing: This includes all the fundamental checks for spelling, grammar, and consistency.
- Medium Copy Editing: I provide light editing services, plus suggestions for improvements in organization, logic, and clarity without changing your original text.
- Heavy Copy Editing: This comprehensive service includes everything in the other two levels, plus I will correct all errors, assist in rewriting wordy passages, and verify facts.
I work with the following documents
I can handle a wide variety of documents, including:
- Books
- Articles, essays, magazines, and journals
- Academic works (Research papers, Dissertations, Theses)
I will also adhere to your preferred style guide, such as:
- Chicago Manual of Style
- APA
- MLA
- AMA
- Custom Style Sheet (I will create a custom style sheet for your project.)
What Copyediting Includes
All copy editing packages include a meticulous review of your work in the following areas:
- Mechanical Editing: I ensure consistency in spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and formatting.
- Correlation: I check for consistency between your table of contents, chapters, and all numbered elements such as footnotes and figures.
- Language Editing: I correct errors in grammar and syntax, and I will highlight confusing or "wordy" paragraphs.
- Content Editing: I will advise you on any factual inconsistencies, possibly incorrect statements, and parts of your text that may require reprint permissions.
Project-Based Pricing
My pricing is based on a project-by-project basis, following the Editorial Freelancers Association guidelines.
The final cost for copy editing or line editing is determined by:
- The project's word count and subject
- The level of editing required (light, medium, or heavy)
- The estimated time needed to complete the work, which I determine after a sample edit
