Proofreading is the final step before publication.
A project is ready for proofreading after it has been copyedited, with all gaps in logic and any inconsistencies resolved. Misspellings and typos have been repaired. A proofreader provides the final review of your work, and will point out any conspicuous errors that may have been passed over during the editing process.
Ideally, your proofreader should be a different person than your copyeditor. The proofreader needs to be able to review your finished product with fresh, objective eyes.
